I was walking through the Dude yesterday and Students Against Cancer were selling cookies to fight cancer. You know an Anti-Cancer Bake Sale, that old bag. The person selling cookies was asking people if they would like to buy one. The person in front of me said "Sorry I gave up cookies for lent". The seller then turned to me. Before they could ask I stuttered "Sorry, I gave up charity for lent". I won't forget the look on that kid's face as long as I live.
I told that story to James Paulson when I got to my next class and I guess a girl overheard it because when I was walking back through the Dude she turns to me and says - this is the only thing she has ever said to me - "So are you going to buy a cookie?" Of course I obliged and it was delicious. But don't tell those kids in University Student For Cancer, they still think I'm on their side.
