I got a nice surprise in the mail this week. A small postcard sized piece of paper arrived. I almost mistook it for junk mail. I ripped the folding tab, and opened it up to see a check printed on the inside. My settlement with EA Sports had arrived.

It was at least back in 2011 that I filled out an online form for some crazy sounding class action lawsuit against EA sports. I really didn't think an anti-monopoly suit against EA Sports would actually be successful, Even if they did have a monopoly, I'm sure their were too lawyered up for anyone to do much about it. But since I had bought NCAA Football every year since 2002 and a few Madden games in there too, I figured I might as well take 5 minutes to fill out the form.
And boy did it pay off. The check came for $99.02. That's way more than I've made in any other class action suit, which usually end up being checks for less than $10. It was a happy day, and it looks like the unemployed lifestyle can continue on for another few days. Or I can finally buy NCAA '14.
